Whitecaps Academy Information Session Apr 15

Posted on April 11, 2019 by Kitimat Youth Soccer Association in News

The Whitecaps Academy Centre will be hosting an information session on Monday, April 15th in the Nechako Elementary School gym from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The session is completely free to attend and will showcase an overview of their development plans for the Northwest area, followed by a Q&A portion. Hopefully, everyone is able to attend as they would like to meet as many people as possible, and learn from your opinions of what you would like to see for soccer in the Kitimat area.

For further questions, you can reach Adam Glass, Vancouver Whitecaps FC | Northwest Head Coach, at:

aglass@whitecapsfc.com or by phone at 604 345-7695.

Whitecaps Kitimat Spring Programming FAQs

1. When are tryouts?

a) There are no tryouts; every player that wishes to take part is more than welcome. Visit this page for Registration.

2. When does the Academy start?

a) Dates, times and locations can be found here: https://www.whitecapsfc.com/youth/programs/kitimat.

3. Do I have to purchase a kit every phase?

a) No, you can buy the kit once and wear it for as long as it still fits. We recommend buying a size up so it lasts a few seasons.

4. Is the training session only once a week, and always on the same day?

a) Yes, the training session is once a week in the same time slot. Those wishing for extra training: We have Skills Academies in Terrace and Prince Rupert available on different days of the week. A player must be registered in the Kitimat program first to participate in the other academies.

5. How do I get invited to Prospects?

a) Coaches will work with players in their local Spring programming and then make recommendations on which players are suited to the Prospects program. These players will then be invited to attend the Prospects program, starting May 8th, in Terrace.

6. Will I have to miss club programming?

a) No, we are partnered with local clubs and have scheduled our programming to avoid conflicts with their schedules as much as possible.

7. Does the program involve games?

a) At the moment, no. We are looking into creating monthly jamborees hosted by our partner clubs for the Summer phase (July-September).

8. Is the program a one-time thing for Spring? Will there be Whitecaps programming available in other times of the year?

a) We hope to offer a Summer phase (July-September) for our Skills and Prospects
academies, again in partnership with local clubs. There are also Skills Camps scheduled for June and July in Terrace, Prince Rupert, and Kitimat
