PLAYER HEALTH & SAFETY

RULE OF TWO POLICY

Kitimat Youth Soccer Association believes in the health, safety, and wellness of all club participants and in particular the protection of our children, and that everyone involved in soccer has the right to participate in safe and inclusive environments free of abuse, harassment, discrimination, and to enjoy the sport at whatever level or capacity they participate in.

CODE OF ETHICS AND CONDUCT TO PROTECT CHILDREN

Kitimat Youth Soccer Association has developed the following Code of Ethics and Conduct to guide our employees/volunteers in their interactions within the club and with children. The safety, rights, and well-being of children we serve are at the core of our daily programs. We nurture supportive relationships with children while balancing and encouraging appropriate boundaries.

DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION POLICY

Kitimat Youth Soccer Association welcomes all individuals to participate in soccer and believes that embracing differences while removing barriers to promote diversity and equity and foster inclusion, is integral to serving the wider soccer community. The purpose of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Policy is to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion as integral parts of soccer in British Columbia.

ANTI-BULLYING POLICY

Kitimat Youth Soccer Association has adhered to this Anti-Bullying Policy to help guide and protect the children that participate in our activities as players, referees, coaches or in any other capacity. Bullying can be defined as intentional hurtful and aggressive behavior that makes others feel uncomfortable, scared, or upset, and it is the responsibility of the club, our staff, and volunteers to create a safe, free of bullying soccer environment.

Warming up prior to playing and training is a matter of routine for any serious player. A smart warm-up not only improves your performance but also helps you to prevent injuries. “The 11+”, the new injury prevention programme from FIFA’s Medical Assessment and Research Centre (F-MARC), provides a complete, football-specific warm-up and can easily be integrated into a daily training routine.

FIFA 11+ For Children

The FIFA 11+ KIDS programme is a complete warm-up program for children under the age of 14. In comparison the the FIFA 11+ program, the warm-up exercises focus on: a) spatial orientation, anticipation, and attention; b) whole body and leg stability and coordination; and c) appropriate fall techniques.

“The 11+” is divided into three parts: it starts off with running exercises (part I), moves on to six exercises with three levels of increasing difficulty to improve strength, balance, muscle control and core stability (part II), and concludes with further running exercises (part III). The different levels of difficulty increase the programme’s effectiveness and allow coaches and players to individually adapt to the programme. “The 11+” takes approx. 20 minutes to complete and replaces the usual warm-up before training. Prior to playing a match, only the running exercises are performed, for about ten minutes.

“The 11+” has proven to cut injuries by up to half – if performed correctly and regularly. When it is adopted together with the values of fair play, it enables you, as a player or coach, to protect yourself, your team and your opponents and thus increase everyone’s enjoyment of the game.
