There is a general consensus among the technical coaching staff of national soccer associations around the world that small-sided soccer is best suited to teaching soccer to young children. Kitimat Youth Soccer Association uses small-sided or “mini” soccer formats in our U5-U8 Programs.
The following are the game formats in each of our age divisions. Please note that actual field dimensions may vary according to the field facilities available to our programs.
U5 Coed
- Play 3v3 (no goalkeeper)
U6 Coed
- Play 4v4 (3 field players and one goalkeeper)
U7 Coed
- Play 5v5 (4 field players and one goalkeeper)
U8 Coed
- Play 6v6 (5 field players and one goalkeeper)
U9-U11
- Play 7v7 (6 field players and one goalkeeper)
U12-U13
- Play 8v8 (7 field players and one goalkeeper)
